🔍 NTSA Vehicle Search:
Confirming Ownership Before You Buy
When buying a used car in Kenya, confirming the true owner and status of the logbook is the most critical step to avoid fraud or inheriting a loan (Caveat). The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) allows this essential check through the eCitizen/TIMS portal.
🔑 Key Requirements for Vehicle Search
The search process is fast, requiring minimal personal input, as the system only needs the vehicle's identifier.
1.Active eCitizen Account: Access to the NTSA services is granted through this national portal.
2.Vehicle Registration Number: The official number plate of the vehicle you wish to verify.
3.Search Fee: A small fee (KES 550) payable via M-Pesa or bank card to generate the official report.
🖥️ Step-by-Step Guide to Vehicle Search
1.Log in to eCitizen: Access the portal and select the NTSA service.
2.Select Vehicle Search: On the dashboard, navigate to the 'Vehicle Search' option.
3.Input Details: Enter the number plate of the vehicle.
4.Pay the Fee: Follow the prompt to pay the required search fee.
5.View/Download Report: The system processes the request and generates a Copy of Records (CoR) report.
N/B:
Check Key Details: This copy of records confirms the Registered Owner, Chassis Number, and most importantly, the Caveat Status (whether the vehicle has any outstanding loans or liens).
